In India many people speak different languages in different parts. Most the languages in India are seperated into several different families. The major ones being Indo European, Indo Aryan, Dravidian languages and Hindi. The official language of the Republic of India and is spoken by more than half the population, mostly in the Northern half of the country. The second largest language in India is English and many children especially in the city were brought up on it since the British used to rule India. Also each state in Southern India speaks its own language with many different dialects in each language. Tamil Tadu's is Tamil, Andra Pradesh's is Telegu, Karnataka's is Kanada and Kerala's is Malayam.

Assamese: Spoken in Assam
Bangeli: Many people in Bengal only speak this language.
Gujarati: Spoken in Gujarat. Also the 26th most spoken native language in the world.
Hindi: Official language of India. Spoken mostly in the northern half of the country.

Kashmiri: Written in Arabict script Kashmiri is spoken by 55% of the states Kammu and Kashmir.
Konkani: It is spoken on the West Coast of India and 3.6 million people speak it.
Malayam: Malayam is one of the four major Dravidian languages of southern India and the language of Kerela. It is spoken by 35.9 million people in India, Middle East, North America, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Europe.
Manipuri: This language is spoken in the Indiastates of Assam and Tripura. It is also spoken in other countries like Burma and Bangladesh. More than 1.4 million people speak it.
Marathi: Spoken by about 90 million world wide Marathi is spoken in India, Maurutius and Israel. It has two major dialects Standard Marathi ( official language of Maharashtra) and Warhadi Marathi. And has around four sub-dialects Ahirani, Dangi, Samavedi and Khandeshi.
Nepali: Nepali is one of India's 23 official languages and is also spoken in Burma, Bhuntan and Nepal. It has 31 million speakers. Oriya: Oriya is the official language of Orissa, second official language of Jharkhand and one of the official languages of India. It is spoken by over 32 million people.
Punjabi: Punjabi is a historic language from North West India and North Eastern Pakistan. This language is also used in all Sikh ceremonies. It is the 10th most used language in the world and is spoken by about 88 million people.
Sanskrit: The primary language for Hinduism, Jainism and Mahayana Budism (one of the two branches of Budism) and the official language of Utturakhand. It is also one of India's official languages.
Sindihi: It is spoken by the Sindh people of Pakistan and the Kutch people of India. 5,820,485 people speak it in India. Also 40% of Sindihi speakers are Indian.
Tamil: The official language of Sri Lanka and Singapore the Tamil language also has an official status in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Teluga: Primarily spoken in Andhdra Pradesh (also there official language) and also spoken in neighbouring states Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharasthtra , Orissa and Tamil Tadu this language has 74 million native speakers and one of India's 22 schedualed languages.
